Optimizing Your Impact: Strategic Giving at La Soupe
Tax season has a way of making us all think more carefully about how and where we give. If recent tax changes have you rethinking your charitable giving strategy, you're not alone. We are sharing a few giving options that may help stretch your generosity further to support your philanthropic goals, while delivering real benefits as part of a comprehensive tax strategy.
Gifts of Stock Donating appreciated stock directly to La Soupe may help avoid capital gains tax, meaning more of your investment's value goes toward fighting food waste and hunger.
IRA Charitable Rollovers If you're 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to La Soupe. This may reduce your taxable income, and for donors 73 and older, it can also help satisfy a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year. You can even make La Soupe a beneficiary on the account as part of a planned giving strategy.
Donor-Advised Fund Grants If you've already set aside funds for charitable giving through a Donor-Advised Fund, putting them to work for La Soupe is simple. Recommend a grant to us through your fund administrator, and your contribution goes directly toward rescuing fresh ingredients and turning them into nourishing meals for our neighbors in need. Grants can be issued both as one-time donations or as a recurring monthly gift to help sustain operations.
We encourage you to speak with your financial advisor to explore which approach works best for you.
No matter how you choose to give, your support keeps La Soupe's kitchen operations running and our community nourished. If you have any questions about ways to give, please reach out to Melissa Marie, Donor Engagement Officer, at melissamarie@lasoupe.org or call 513-271-0100.
