Saving Good Food, Fighting Waste
Rescued food isn’t expired or unsafe—it’s perfectly good but overlooked. These ingredients still have plenty of life left—and we make sure they don’t go to waste.
Every week, our team processes 30,000 pounds of food from grocers, farms, manufacturers, and distributors. Everything is weighed, sorted, and checked for safety in our Board of Health-certified facility. We partner with businesses across the food supply chain to keep perfectly good food out of landfills and into the hands of those who need it.
Culinary Arts in Action
At La Soupe, food rescue is an art. Chefs are masters of improvisation. Our professional chefs and volunteers turn overlooked ingredients into nutritious, delicious meals—whether it’s a vibrant gazpacho from surplus tomatoes or a rich, hearty soup using day-old bread. This process not only reduces waste but also fosters culinary creativity, ensuring that every meal we make is as thoughtful as it is nourishing. As Ohio’s largest chef-led food rescue initiative, we believe that good food should never go to waste—and no one should go hungry.
Our Share Partners
La Soupe does not provide meals directly to individuals, but through our vetted network of 150+ partner organizations. By removing the burden of cooking short-dated and bulk-packaged ingredients, we allow our partner organizations to focus on the other essential services they provide.
Food as Medicine: Nourishing a Healthier Community
Food insecurity isn’t just about hunger—it’s a public health crisis. In Greater Cincinnati, one-third of residents struggle with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or both, conditions closely linked to heart disease and stroke. With 86% of healthcare spending tied to diet-related illnesses, access to nutritious food is critical, especially in lower-income communities where healthy options are scarce. Addressing this starts with access to meals that are not only nourishing but also culturally relevant, satisfying, and made with dignity.
At La Soupe, we believe food is medicine—but it should still taste great. Together, our chefs and on-site Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) create nutrient-dense meals, soupes, and desserts including Medically Tailored Meals (MTMs) for those most at risk.
By making nutritious food more accessible, we’re not just feeding people—we’re helping them lead healthier, longer lives.
