La Soupe’s Rescue Kitchen Network

Graduates of the Capacity Building Program and established Rescue Kitchens can join the Rescue Kitchen Network (RKN)—a community of like-minded organizations advocating for culinary approaches to food rescue, coordinating bulk food distribution, and sharing best practices. Slots for established rescue kitchens outside of Capacity Building Program graduates are limited.

There are a million environmental and food access networks out there, so why this one?

  • The only network for Food Rescue Kitchens - nonprofits cooking and processing rescued food at scale for communities

  • Focus on impact - we are doers, not talkers, we focus on high-impact opportunities

  • Together, we are leading a movement.  Our collective voices are more impactful in advocating for this innovative approach to food access and waste reduction.

Rescue Kitchens are important opportunities to:

  • Reduce food waste in local communities

    • Wasting food is wrong particularly when so many of our neighbors are hungry.  Further, it causes environmental problems due to methane and carbon emissions, shortens the lifespan of landfills (which are expensive to permit and operate) and it discards all of the resources and labor that went into growing, processing, and transporting the food.

  • Increase access to quality foods for those who need it most

    • According to the USDA 13.5% of households in the US were food insecure.  The numbers are even worse for households with children, at 17.1%.  Our programs help intercept waste and rework supply chains to ensure access for all.

What our partners say

This network is built on the shared belief that rescued food has the power to nourish communities, and together, we are continuously innovating to make every ingredient count. Through open knowledge-sharing, we exchange best practices, refine operational workflows, and implement creative solutions that maximize efficiency, improve meal quality, and expand access to food for those who need it most. Each kitchen brings its own strengths and experiences to the table, making us all better in the process.

Miami Valley Meals is built on the idea that food is love in action, and being part of this collaboration reinforces that belief. The Rescue Kitchen Network is more than just a partnership—it’s a powerhouse of kitchens working side by side to strengthen food systems, reduce waste, and ensure that every meal served carries the dignity and care our communities deserve.
