Bridging the gap between food waste and food insecurity.
Last year, we rescued 1.3 million pounds of surplus food and turned it into 1.2 million ready-to-eat meals. We’ve diverted over 8 million pounds of food from landfills and shared 6.8 million nourishing servings with families in need through hundreds of community partners.
Why Throw
Away Good
Food?
Hunger is a Problem; Transforming Surplus Food is the Answer.
Perfectly good food shouldn’t go to waste while people go hungry. Every week, we rescue surplus food—fresh, safe, and ready to use—and transform it into nutritious meals. From farms to manufacturers to grocery stores, our partners help keep good food out of landfills and get it to those who need it most.
One in ten Americans—many of them children—don’t have reliable access to nutritious, affordable food. Yet, 38% of all food in the U.S. goes unsold or uneaten, with 80 million tons ending up in landfills each year. The reality? Quality food is wasted while people go hungry.
That’s where we come in. At La Soupe, we bridge the gap between food waste and hunger.
