Food Runners
Did you know on average our volunteers make XX pick-up and delivery runs around the city for us each week? Food runners are vital to our daily operations and the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking for a flexible volunteer-when-you-can schedule. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to:
Rescue: Pick-up food from local partners such as Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Greater’s, and others and deliver to our street-level dock where our friendly staff greet you to unload your rescue.
Share: Deliver transformed meals and other food items from our Walnut Hills location to one of our 150+ local community partners including food pantries, schools, nursing homes, and more.
All food runner shifts are self-scheduled and managed through the Food Rescue (FRU) app.
Once registered, you can view or claim available food runs, or adopt a regular schedule for pick-up at a time and location convenient for you.
Each food run lasts approximately one hour.
